I am not used to writing about myself, but here is my currently best attempt at doing so.

I was not always an Atheist. Like some others out there I was born and raised in a family where GOD was a part of my life. I went too church every Sunday and celebrated all of the really cool Holidays, like Christmas and Easter – because what is cooler too a little kid than presents and candy?

My turn away from religion came in the form of a ghost. No… really… a ghost. And not the “holy ghost” kind either.

It’s a really long story, so let’s just say that it ends with me realizing that religion and reality are better off kept seperate and never the two shall meet.

I always knew that there was something fishy about religion, but I never really acted upon it and seperated myself from it. I always thought that being religious was not harming anyone – and in my life it was not.

However, as time went on I began to see religion everywhere I turned. I began to see fights on the news during Christmas between the atheits and the christians, which I actually found to be quite disturbing from an atheists point of view – we are much too angry in my opinion. I began to see religion in my politics – an oxymoron I believe. I began to wonder why, as a christian at the time, I was involved in something that condoned, no, celebrated lying too children about some jolly guy in a red suit. Really? Lying? We celebrated lying. As a group.

There were battles against the gays (and I am an equal rights person), sex with little boys and so many other issues that I began to see just how damaging religion can actually be if it is used in the wrong way… if we begin to take fiction, all be it a moral fiction, and try and turn it into reality.

So finally I said “enough is enough. I can no longer try and defend these people. I am now an Atheist.”

I do not view religion itself as a potentially harmful thing. In fact I believe that religion, when used correctly, can be a very good thing for people and so I am not against religious people. I just don’t believe in what it believes in. That is my personal choice, just as it is your personal choice if you are religious to believe in it.

This blog will hopefully provide you with my point of view of things, mostly of a religious nature. Hopefully I will not get too opinionated, trying to stay on track with just the facts. I hope to include some of my own personal humor into things, just to make this pill a little bit easier to swallow.

Other then that there is really nothing more to say about myself and what I hope to accomplish here. I am not trying to turn anyone into an Atheist, apparently religion is doing a fine job of it themselves so they don’t need my help. I just want to try and get people thinking.

Enjoy your stay, who ever you may be.
